Lab@Future Project

The ‘Lab@Future’ project is a consortium of partners from eight countries, funded by the European Union

The whole name of the project is ‘School laboratory anticipating future needs of European youth’. The aim is to create and implement in schools a mixed and augmented realities setup, enabling mobile eLearning. Experiments will involve laboratory teaching for the disciplines of science (fluid dynamics), mathematics (geometry: developing spatial skills), and arts & humanities (environmental awareness, educational walks, visits and seminars). Through embedding real life situations and phenomena in the school micro-society, using mechatronic systems, augmented reality interfaces, shared distributed virtual environments, and mobile eLearning, Lab@Future aims at proactively anticipating for ambient intelligence. The role of our Center is to generate and apply an activity-theoretical conceptual framework for critical analysis of learning in the different phases of the project, in dialogue and debate with constructivist approaches. The principal representative of the Center in the project is Yrjö Engeström. Daisy Mwanza works in the project as a postdoctoral researcher of the Center.
