COLLABORATION AND OBJECT-ORIENTED INTERAGENCY IN CO-CONFIGURATION

My study is a part of a developmental and research project conducted at an industrial business organization Metso Automation. The practical goal of the project is to develop work practices and tools for recently adapted business concept based on sustained cooperation between Metso and its clients. The new form of sustained cooperation between the producer and its clients is an example of what has been called co-configuration. It is based on collaborative exploration and development of the client's activity through local experimentation, development and exchange made possible by products that are made "customer intelligent" with the help of new information and communication technology.

The first aim of my study is to analyze collaboration between Metso and its clients. However, co-configuration also demands new kind of exchange and communication within the organizations. Therefore the second goal of my study is to explore collaboration within Metso. Collaboration related to configuration requires new kind of collective agency based on joint object. I will also follow in my study the expansion of this kind of object-oriented interagency.
