Current Activities

I am currently working as a researcher at the Urban Research Unit of the City of Helsinki Urban Facts.

My doctoral research in progress is a case study on creating local digital service infrastructure for the district of Arabianranta on the eastern waterfront of Helsinki. The working title of the thesis is 'Colliding Logics'. I examine the Arabianranta process as multi-party negotiation and construction of new discursive and organizational structures which reflect the changing role of the public sector in providing utility services, of which ICT infra is becoming part of. In Arabianranta these structures involve new hybrid ownership and management models.

Current projects include a participatory research project carried out jointly with the Center for Urban and Regional Studies in which we test new procedural methods in conflict resolution in land use conflicts. The research project is funded by the Finnish Ministry of Environment.
