As a basis for the Finnish pavilion some fundamental elements are agreed:

Communication and interaction in arts and culture
  • All forms of arts and culture have communicative and interactive aspects
  • Formation of culture is a two-way process
  • The focus is on xamining cultural messages, heritage, beliefs, and values as seen and understood by children
  • The method in examining cultural heritage derives from socio-cultural animation
  • In the wider sense the theme Communication and Interaction covers also new communication technologies as new cultural tools

How is cultural heritage understood?
  • Values as beauty, goodness, and truth
  • Basis for theoretical AND practical knowledge, self-understanding, and identity
  • Dialogue between different generations and history

Socio cultural animation
  • Increasing knowledge about own and other nations cultural heritage (cognitive, moral and aesthetic values, cherishing of cultural heritage) Increasing use of museums including virtual museums as natural way of seeking information
  • Encouraging to participate in producing own culture (Culture as life style)
  • Culture is tool for human behaviour - tool for communication and interaction
  • Culture is constructed through experiences, habits, and values in everyday life situations and free time activities
  • All people create culture
  • Arts and culture - not only privileges for few
